The Mayan Dude Ranch was built in 1931. In 1951, the Don and Judy Hicks family took over the ranch operations, and to this day, run the ranch with Hicks from all ages and generations.

The ranch had until that time run as a girl scout camp with it’s 30 cabins. Upon transferring ownership, the Hicks family added more cabins with the aim of becoming a premier dude ranch of Texas.
